Sitting in the shadows of the San Gabriel Mountains is the community of Phelan, the “Land of Champagne Climate.” Phelan offers four seasons of activities for visitors and residents alike. For those who like to hike or ride a horse, there are several great opportunities to explore the unique ecosystem that is the trasitionional habitat between forest and desert. The Pacific Crest Trail is just minutes from Phelan and the national forest offers several hikes for all ages and skill levels. If your exploring requires wheels, then Phelan offers several designated off-highway vehicle trails as well as BLM and Forest service roads ready for your discovery.

Views From The desert to the Mountains

Exploring the deserts and mountains of the area is a favorite pastime of many residents. There are also several community hosted events including a concert series in the park, an easter egg hunt, a Halloween Trunk or Treat, a haunted maze and Phelan’s premiere celebration, Phelan Phamily Phun Days. Three days of fun and games including Barrel Race, Ranch Sorting and Steer Roping events, the Champaign Classic Car Show, Phun Days Parade, and the Phun Zone.

The community of Phelan is the 35th smallest town in San Bernardino County and has a population of 17,799 residents living across 38,400 acres of land. Phelan is the definition of rural living with 91% of its land use dedicated to rural living. With a few exceptions lot sizes are limited to 2.5 acres and above.
